The solo melody is reminiscent of ancient Native-American melodies. Composed on commission by the Sonoma Chamber Choir in 2008, revised in 2010, adding electric piano and electric bass.
O great mystery,
and wonderful sacrament,
that animals should see the newborn God,
lying in a manger!
O blessed is the Virgin whose womb
was worthy to bear
the Lord, Jesus Christ.

My joy is born
Every time I look at my beautiful sun,
And my life is over
Any time I don't see it,
For its glance is such,
That makes me always entirely blessed.
O sol, immortal soul
Do not ever hide
That I can see with certainty
That if I don’t look at you
I could have nothing worse.
